THE SPACE BETWEEN: A RETREAT

WITH CARINA LYALL AND RICHARD SKREIN, SWEDEN MAY 2025

THE SPACE BETWEEN FIRE AND WATER

THE SPACE BETWEEN HUMAN AND LAND

THE SPACE BETWEEN STORIES

THE SPACE BETWEEN WORDS

THE SPACE BETWEEN SILENCE

THE SPACE BETWEEN LAUGHTER

Step into the wild embrace of Ryd Forest, land of green moss, ancient trees, serene lakes and a hidden yurt...

Step into The Space Between, an immersive experience rooted in deep ecology and connection.

These times demand that we are certain, but so many of us feel a deep uncertainty. We inhabit a space between those states.

The sense of jumping between being ‘the together one’ and ‘the mess’.

What does this life between competing forces do to our bodies? To our relationship to mystery?

We have questions and unmet longings that have not been met, because where the fuck can they be met?

We will make a space to language the things that are hard to say and, perhaps more importantly, feel the things that can’t be said with words.

We will bring some of these deeper questions to the trees, to the water, to the fire.

We want to welcome moments of stillness and laughter. To play and take time on the land. Create. We will come together around the fire to tell stories.

This retreat invites you to pour water on the sauna coals, leap into the cold lake, come and gather around the fire.

We’ll avoid earnestness and bullshit at every turn. Welcome laughter as a response.

Free from distractions and the need for perfect answers, we’ll challenge, stir, and ground ourselves in this unique space where fire, water and land meet.

Come, find what waits in The Space Between.

During our time together we will work with

  • The land

  • Storytelling

  • Sauna Sessions

  • Cold Water Immersion

  • Fire and Water Ritual

  • Ephemeral Land Art

  • Natural firelighting

  • Fingers in the soil

About Richard Skrein

Rich can be found in the woods of Europe and England and is a Forest School trainer, storyteller and author with a profound and enduring passion for the natural world. He works with groups of all ages, building community and long-term opportunities for learning, growth and healing in the outdoors.

He lives in the urban wilds of London and is passionate about making green spaces accessible to  communities that are currently less welcomed or represented in the outdoors. He knows that if we understand ourselves as part of the natural world and cultivate a reciprocal relationship with the other-than-human, we can affect profound change for ourselves and the planet.  He believes deeply in the power of the outdoors to educate, nurture, inspire and heal.
